Welcome to OZANAM CENTER

Welcome to OZANAM CENTER, the leading shelter in the area. We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing emergency housing assistance to individuals and families in need. Our six-acre site, located on the property of the Catholic Diocese of Brownsville, has a maximum capacity of 200 people and is here to serve the community of Cameron County.

At OZANAM CENTER, we are committed to helping those in need. We are guided by the mission of Bishop Enrique San Pedro, OZANAM CENTER, INC. to provide assistance to those in need through a cooperative service. We strive to create a safe and secure environment while helping build a better future for our clients.

Our Services: Emergency Community Shelter

At OZANAM CENTER, we provide a variety of services to support our clients. We offer emergency housing assistance to those in need, including food, clothing, and access to necessary resources. We also provide programs and services to help our clients develop skills and gain the knowledge necessary to transition into permanent housing.

Our staff is committed to providing compassionate and professional care to our clients. We are here to listen, provide guidance, and offer support. We are dedicated to helping our clients find stability and security as they work to transition into permanent housing.

Our Impact on the Community

At OZANAM CENTER, we are proud to serve the community of Cameron County. We strive to make a positive impact in the lives of those in need by providing the resources and support necessary to help our clients transition into permanent housing.

We are grateful for the support of United Way, The City of Brownsville, the Catholic Diocese of Brownsville, Community Agencies, State and Federal Entities, as well as private foundations, volunteers, and the community in general. Thanks to their generosity, we are able to provide much-needed services to those in need and help create a better future for our clients.

Food Pantry Service

The Ozanam center’s Food Pantry provides emergency food and weekly food pantry distribution to the under-income residents of Cameron County. Each pantry bag averages a cost of $41.00 and consists mainly of staples and non-perishable items. Perishable items are immediately distributed to the community.
